Game of Thrones graphic improvements+ ENB UPDATE MAY 22

Postby MforMoniker » 17 May 2012, 18:15

UPDATED MAY 22nd 2012 with SLI and uber sampling components
This is the last update I will be doing since I am no longer playing the game. However, all of the instructions should hold, regardless of future patches.

Given that this runs off of the Unreal Engine 3, many of the .ini changes that are already out there can be used. I've made several already, which has vastly improved the game's look. First, if you're on Windows 7, here's where you need to look: documents/gameofthrones/unrealengine3/agotgame/config

AGOTEngine.ini - better graphics, screen tear fix, better visual fidelity in shadows and antistropy
[SystemSettings]
UseVsync= Set this to TRUE. It will fix the screen tearing you get whenever you pan around
MaxAnisotropy=16
MaxMultisamples=16
MinShadowResolution=4096
MinPreShadowResolution=8
MaxShadowResolution=4096
MaxWholeSceneDominantShadowResolution=4096
ShadowFadeResolution=64
PreShadowFadeResolution=16

[SystemSettingsEditor]
bEnableForegroundSelfShadowing=True
TEXTUREGROUP_ProcBuilding_Face=(MinLODSize=1,MaxLODSize=4096,LODBias=0,MinMagFilter=aniso,MipFilter=point)
TEXTUREGROUP_ProcBuilding_LightMap=(MinLODSize=1,MaxLODSize=4096,LODBias=0,MinMagFilter=aniso,MipFilter=point)

AGOTinput.ini - field of vision changes
Bindings=(Name="F8",Command="FOV 75",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False)
Bindings=(Name="F9",Command="FOV 80",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False)
Bindings=(Name="F10",Command="FOV 85",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False)

Ifyou use an XBOX360 controller, you can bind it to your Select (back) button. Change the value after FOV to your desired FOV. My recommendation is 85 for those playing in 1080p:
Bindings=(Name="XboxTypeS_Back",Command="CancelMatinee |
DebugSkipDialog | FOV 85,Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False")

AGOTgame.ini - extend the life for decals in the world such as blood:
[Engine.DecalManager]
DecalLifeSpan=60.0

ENB Series: A Game of Thrones
If you're familiar with the ENB series, you'll know that these drastically alter the SSAO, Antialiasing, Motion Blur, colors and whatever else for games. I have modified the one for Burnout Paradise that gives the game a much "softer" look, evening out the color tonesm makes shadows feel more natural, helps blend some of the bad textures a bit and adds in a number of post-processing that makes the game look rather nice.

Note that this is only recommended for advanced users! It can be very systems intense and may lower frame rates for lower-end PCs. I am unsure if it's compatible with Steam versions, but you can give it a go.

Navigate to your AGOT main folder in Programs ->Binaries ->Win32 and overwrite all files if it asks.

May 21st file (much brighter, less dark and cleaner): http://www.sendspace.com/file/7mobg2

Enable SLI, Force anti-aliasing, ubersampling and a slew of other wonderful improvements

Hello
Can you put some pictures of GOT with the settings that you placed?

I agree with Isil - can we get a side by side comparison please?

*when I got to the last step:
Navigate to your AGOT main folder ->Binaries ->Win32 and overwrite all files when it asks.

it didn't ask me to overwrite any files, should I be worried?

It will only ask to overwrite if you're using an older version of ENB. You should be good! Essentially, it should go right where your main execution file is for the game.. It's named "shippingAGOT.exe" I believe.
